    Jan 31, 2018
    Newport Beach, CA

    Newport Beach, CA – Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at about 1:45 p.m. a Robinson R44
helicopter crashed onto three homes. First, the helicopter struck two different
houses on their roofs and careened off of them and smashed down onto the third
home and ended on the ground.

According to news reports, at least three occupants in the helicopter passed away
and one occupant was taken to an area hospital with injuries. A second person,
believed to have been on the ground was also taken to an area hospital due to
    injuries sustained from the collision.

Miraculously there was no fire on the wreckage and it was unclear if anyone was in
the home where the helicopter ended.

Irvine Police Officers were summoned by the Newport Police Department to assist
with the perimeter after they closed access to the Bayview Terrace gated

A resident walking two dogs, had no words on how to describe the loud noise
created by the crash as she had never heard anything like it.

The helicopter had just departed from the John Wayne International Airport
located about a mile away from the scene prior to the crash.

No further information was obtained at the scene.

Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the involved! We join you
