Whittier, CA – Police and the family of 46 year old Agustin Rodriguez need help from the public in identifying the vehicle and the driver who struck him and caused his death.
The Hit-and-Run driver is being described as a young female with blonde hair who was driving a newer model white or pearl in color Lexus IS 250 or ES 350 with tinted windows throughout and black and white paper plates.
According to news reports and a post from social media, on Monday, January 30, 2017 at about 7:30 a.m., Rodriguez was riding his bicycle on Calmada Ave on his way to meet with his father for work. Rodriguez was about to cross Ditmarr Dr. since a vehicle had stopped and yielded to him to cross. However, a female operating a Lexus behind the stopped car yelled at the stopped vehicle to move then went around that car and collided with Rodriguez and continued to drive as Rodriguez was lodged on the vehicle.
The social media post further states that the driver of the stopped vehicle honked and screamed at the Lexus to stop but the driver just kept going. The Lexus turned right onto Ditmarr Dr. and shortly thereafter Rodriguez’s body dislodged from the Lexus in front of a residence located at 13953 Dittmar Dr. that’s when the driver backed-up then drove forward around Rodriguez and continued to flee.
Witnesses attempted to follow the driver but she got away. A local resident remembers seeing the windshield of the Lexus smashed in and with a large hole on the passenger side.
Family and friends of Agustin Rodriguez set up two memorials in his honor, one at the place of impact and one at the site where he was found.
A GoFundMe account was set-up to help Rodriguez’s family with burial costs.
