SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a hit-and-run driver that killed an elderly woman in San Bernardino.

Darlena M. Santiago, 63, was hit by a gray pickup on Friday, Oct. 2. at Waterman Avenue and Norman Road, police said.
The pickup’s driver fled the scene and Santiago died of injuries sustained from the at Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. She later died of head injuries sustained in the crash.
Surveillance footage obtained from the San Bernardino Police Department shows a gray pick-up truck officials believe belongs to the hit-and-run driver.
“Somebody out there knows this truck and knows this driver,” said Lt. Richard Lawhead, San Bernardino police spokesman. “If they could come forward with that information, it would really help investigators put an end to this.”
Lawhead said the grey vehicle that was involved has distinctive features, including primer stains on the sides, and distinctive back windows.
