Orange, CA – 57 Freeway / Orange Freeway , Thursday, November 23, 2017 at about 1:12 a.m. a four automobile collision took place on the southbound 57 (Orange Freeway) just north of Chapman Ave that sent two drivers to the hospital with injuries.
One driver required extrication from a white Chevrolet pick-up truck that overturned and landed on its side by a tree. Fireman with the City of Orange Fire Department and the City of Anaheim Fire Department used the jaws of life to remove the roof from the truck in order to attend its male occupant.
According to a party involved in the accident, he was driving a white Dodge Challenger on the freeway when all of a sudden he came upon a vehicle standing sideways totally blacked out but prior to him colliding with such vehicle he noticed several individuals standing on the right shoulder by a prior accident waving but he says he didn't understood what was happening at that moment and he collided with the vehicle that stood sideways.
That party further explained that he saw a man standing by the center divider out of a vehicle that was also involved in the accident.
A silver sedan received extreme damage as it appeared it was hit multiple times. Two males in the silver sedan were shaken up by the ordeal however, they both appeared to be without any injuries.
The accident prompted a SIG Alert and closure of all southbound lanes of the 57 freeway.
The driver of a small black sedan and the driver of the white pick-up truck were taken to an area hospital by ambulance for further treatment and evaluation. According to CHP log information, one of the drivers was taken to a trauma center.
It is unknown if alcohol or any controlled substance contributed to the accident. No further information was obtained at the scene.
