Los Angeles, CA – Police were offering a $50,000 reward to help find the hit-and-run driver responsible for fatally striking a 27-year-old mother who was trying to get her daughter out of her car.

Karina Campos had just parked her Honda Civic on Boyle Avenue near Whittier Boulevard about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a 2001 Toyota Corolla lost control and struck Campos and her 5-year-old daughter, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver abandoned the car at the scene and ran off, police said. Two witnesses tried but were unable to detain him.
Campos was thrown 40 feet, police said. She was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where she died of injuries that included blunt force trauma. Her daughter was taken to the hospital with injuries described as severe. She was expected to survive.
Investigators say Campos may have pushed her daughter out of the way to save her life.
Police on Sunday announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the driver's arrest and conviction. He was described as a man about 30 years old, wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans. Officers said he may have suffered a bloody injury to his abdominal area.
Anyone with information was asked to call LAPD detectives at (213)833-3746.
