FORT WORTH, TX – A White Settlement firefighter who was struck by a pickup truck while riding his motorcycle Saturday has died.
FROM: by Chris Jose
Officers said a black Ford F-150 followed Trevor Gage's motorcycle from westbound Interstate 30 near Montgomery Street to Spur 341 in West Fort Worth, where the truck and bike collided.
Gage underwent emergency surgery due to a head injury he suffered. He died Sunday morning, the White Settlement Fire Department said in a Facebook post.
"If a firefighter is going to lose his life you would think it would happen while fighting a fire," said White Settlement Mayor Ronald White. "It's a very sad situation. It's a very sad situation for the family."
Gage is survived by his wife and three young children. A GoFundMe page https://www.gofundme.com/toughliketrevor has been set up for him and his family. He was a volunteer firefighter for nearly eight years, a fire department spokesman said.
Police told NBCDFW's Chris Jose they consider the crash that fatally injured Gage to be a case of road rage.
White Settlement police said they are looking for a gloss black Ford F-150 between the years 2010-2014 that may have scrape marks along the passenger side truck bed. They did not offer a detailed description of the driver.
The truck likely doesn't have front end damage. Witnesses told police there is a sticker in the bottom left corner of the truck tailgate. If you see a vehicle that may match this description, call White Settlement police at 817-246-7070.
HitAndRunJustice.com is offering a $1,000.00 (OneThousand 00/100dls) Reward to the first caller who simply identifies the black Ford F150 truck or the driver. The reward will be given within 3 days after White Settlement Police make an arrest due to such information. No CONVICTION necessary for reward, just an arrest. Must Call 1(844) Hit-N-Run before March 28, 2017 to be eligible.
