VW Goes Down Embankment Two Extricated Southern California

    Riverside, CA – Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 7:37 P.M.

    Officers with the California Highway Patrol, Paramedics with American Medical Response (AMR) and Firefighters with Riverside County Fire Department and Riverside City Fire Department responded to calls of a solo vehicle that went down an embankment on Mockingbird Canyon Rd just south of Greenview Dr.

    Two individuals were trapped inside the vehicle.

    Firefighters stabilized the vehicle a white VolksWagen SUV and extricated the occupants, an adult male and an adult female. Both occupants were taken to an area hospital with injuries.

    Traffic was temporary closed in both directions on Mockingbird Canyon Rd. According to an unidentified bystander, another vehicle was traveling south on Mockingbird Canyon Rd as the white VW traveled north. At some point, the VW veered to the left to enter a dirt driveway but was unable to make the turn hitting a curb and careened down the bridge and landed on several large rocks down below.
