    Riverside, CA – Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 5:20 a.m.

Riverside Police, City of Riverside Fire Fighters and Paramedics with American Medical Response responded to calls of a two vehicle auto collision reported to have occurred at Central Ave and Carlo Dr. with one vehicle resting on a cable power box and an unresponsive occupant trapped inside.

Two occupants of a dark in color Toyota SUV involved in the accident were present, the female driver and her male passenger. Both received medical treatment. An adult solo male driver of a light or silver in color four door Honda Accord was unresponsive inside that vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Riverside City Utilities turned off the power to the cable power box that the sedan landed on. Riverside Police Officers pushed bystanders back, taped off the area and were investigating the incident. Central Ave was going to remain closed off to thru traffic for an undetermined number of hours until the accident is investigated.

According to a written statement from the Riverside Police Department, the female driver of the black Toyota SUV was apparently arrested for felony driving under the influence and for vehicular manslaughter after she drove impaired, crossed the westbound lane onto the eastbound lane of Central Ave and colliding with the Accord. The female driver is said to be a student in San Diego County.

The name of the deceased was not released pending notification of his family.

Police ask anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact Detective Greg Matthews at (951) 826-8724.
